Deep Trauma

Let’s talk about emotions.

Most of them don’t hit deep and can be easily controlled.

We think that some are deep but they’re not total trauma and with a lot of work can still be released.

And then there is real deep trauma. It totally dominates you, you work hard on it and think you’ve coped but it rears up when you least expect it.

Rape, abuse, total humiliation, permanent disability, cancer, the loss of someone really close to you, these are overwhelming and affect the rest of your life and cannot be escaped.

People that have never suffered one of these cannot ever understand how it affects you. They can be full of advice but it’s useless.

These traumas are permanent and life challenging. You can only live with it, some can’t and those that do often live a depressed life of misery, suspicion, and and a deep sense of guilt as to how they’ve handled it or maybe could have done more.

On the other hand it can sharpen you. It’s a like a demon that’s always there, like a twisting knife in the gut and has to be worked 24/7 to control.

It’s never a life any sane person would choose, but when you have no choice, it’s better to work with it than give up.

And in turn it can empower you and make you a stronger, more durable, wiser and better person.
