Yield To A Good Teacher

Everyone wants to learn on their own terms.

This is what holds them back.

Remember those old Kung Fu movies where the kung fu monk wannabe would go to the temple and sit outside the gates for days before being accepted?

They’d sweep the yard, scrub the floors and wash the others clothes for months to show commitment before being accepted.

Even now, many students are abused, physically, mentally, sexually and financially by their ‘master’ because they wrongly assume that they’re going to get ‘the secrets’.

Stupid eh?

But….. the best way to really learn is to find a good teacher and yield to their method of teaching. A good teacher won’t abuse you but they will be truthful and blunt because they won’t want to waste precious teaching time with unnecessary politeness and flattery and will answer questions with sometimes frightening honesty.

In modern society our minds are ‘pre framed’ to work things out with our thinking mind and that can be a barrier. The thinking mind is a useful tool but a limited one.

Yield to a good teacher’s methods because they know best, you need faith and trust to change and grow.

Most students have endless mental and emotional barriers to learning. Their ego constantly gets in the way. You think that’s not you?

Think again.

In my lifetime I have only met a couple of people that I could really teach at a deep level because there was nothing in the way.

I end up teaching at ‘dial up’ speed instead of ultra fast broadband because I have to negotiate endless barriers to give minimal
information that I know they’ve only accepted at a really shallow level.

There’s little commitment, everything and everyone else in their life takes priority over their learning and their belly is full of indoctrination from elsewhere to spend the time and effort (kung fu = time and effort) to digest the deeper knowledge.

Number one priority is find a good teacher with the ability and knowledge that your gut tells you that you need. They will be a living example of those teachings as will be their senior students.

Having done your due diligence yield to them and trust their teachings. Abuse means you made a wrong decision but hard work and no short cuts means you made the right one.

Learn with your body, a proper method involves educating your body, mind, emotions, energy and instincts learning often by touch, adjustment, and endless challenges to everything you thought you were.

If you’re not making fundamental changes for the better to who and what you are as a result of your studies, you’re probably on the wrong path.

Kung Fu is not a compartment in your busy life, it’s the key to improving all the rest of it at a very deep level.
