I think only a small group of interested people read my explanations of the Tao Te Ching each day and I have been asked why I bother to do them and post them on here.

For me the book was literally life changing and I still refer to it on a daily basis more than 50 years later. Every passage I analyse gives me added insights and understandings as I evolve, I’m amazed at depths that I’ve missed again and again.

I often thought that the writer or writers were repeating themselves or maybe the translators weren’t seeing the hidden or subtle meanings but on looking further I realise that it was me that missed the hidden depth.

So it’s good for me to go through it line by line and to understand the context of each point made. It’s relevant to my everyday life, teaching skills, martial art practice and politics on a much larger scale. It’s amazing how something written 2500 years ago can be so relevant to what’s happening in all those areas of life today. It really is a timeless classic dispensing simple truths that have been lost in today’s society.
