The Sage Has No Mind Of His Own

Explanation Of The Tao Te Ching Part Forty Nine

“The sage has no mind of his own.
He is aware of the needs of others.

I am good to people who are good.
I am also good to people who are not good.
Because Virtue is goodness.
I have faith in people who are faithful.
I also have faith in people who are not faithful.
Because Virtue is faithfulness.

The sage is shy and humble – to the world he seems confusing.
Others look to him and listen.
He behaves like a little child.”

This part is explaining how the ‘self’ is illusory and is the software (thoughts and emotions) work and belong to the body.

Consciousness pervades everything and is not limited to an individual and therefore treats everything and everyone with the same qualities as it has.

To be shy and humble is to have faith and release to the Tao rather than just adopt it. To behave like a little child is to let go of societies indoctrinations and be as natural as possible.
