I seem to have rattled a few cages with recent posts, and they are never aimed at any particular individuals, but if it gets people to look inward instead of trying to copy others, it’s not a bad thing.
We all have our own individual skill set and power, but we need to find it, understand it, train it and internalise it to give us that internal locus of power that makes us different and that will bring the right people to our door and keep them.
It’s not just a numbers game, it’s not just how many new students you ‘recruit’ (I hate that word as it makes us sound like a cult, ‘punters’ and ‘business’ also make me wince a bit) it’s about how much good you do for yourself, your family, students and put out into the community. Money is essential to pay the bills but is not necessarily a good measure of success. Money will come as a result of success.
And you need to define what success means to you personally and not just take on the definition of others. Find out who you really are and what you’re meant to be and follow that particular yellow brick road.
