Explanation Of The Tao Te Ching Part Fifty Two
“The beginning of the universe
Is the mother of all things.
Knowing the mother, one also knows the sons.
Knowing the sons, yet remaining in touch with the mother,
Brings freedom from the fear of death.
Keep your mouth shut,
Guard the senses,
And life is ever full.
Open your mouth,
Always be busy,
And life is beyond hope.
Seeing the small is insight;
Yielding to force is strength.
Using the outer light, return to insight,
And in this way be saved from harm.
This is learning constancy.”
Sometimes you think why is the author saying the same thing again and again, or is this a collection of authors repeating the same thing or is something lost in translation? But then the deeper you look you find the subtlety of each part.
Here the author is saying that if you know the source you know and understand all that arises from it. If you lose touch with the source you’ll lose touch with that essential part of yourself and be confused by everything around you.
Be careful with your thoughts, feelings and words or you’ll get distracted and become subject to them. When you are in touch with the source you’ll notice everything, be able to balance hard with soft to bring about harmony and use the manifestation of life to know and keep in touch with both the source and your deepest nature.
