Don’t Overtrain

I think I overtrained yesterday, by the time I went to bed, everything hurt and this morning everything is sore and due to low testosterone from the cancer hormone therapy, radiation and age, emotionally fragile. So morning training has to be ‘small frame’ and ‘double meditation’ to heal.

The 8 core skills are soften, connect, open, close, stretch, compress, twist and release, so small frame meant that I didn’t use stretch and compress meaning no fajin. This meant that I moved the energy around the body and kept it in to nourish it and heal ‘monk’ style.

Double meditation means extra time to find and get rid of and excess tension, using the breath to open and close joints, soft tissue, cavities, letting the body, mind and emotions calm down and become more aware, focused, sensitive and intense.

It’s important to train according to the condition of your body, emotions and mind using self care rather than pushing it when it’s not safe to do so.

  1. I still have a limp from years ago when I tried to train like I was in my 20s while I was actually in my 40s. The weird thing is, the muscle I have a problem with isn’t one of the big ones, so I can still lift weights. It is a balancing muscle, for lack of a better word, and walking and qi gong are the exercises that I hope will bring it strength.
