Dying Inside

Dying inside
Is a coping mechanism
When we are made powerless
Having the ultimate acceptance
Not wanting or needing
To end the life of the body
We end the life of the self
Releasing the need to control
We yield to life and others
Being dead none of it matters
We’re taking our toys home
We’re not playing anymore
When we can’t escape our environment
Be it poverty, politics or disablement
It’s all a kind of prison
When there is nothing left for the self
It dies
Is this the same as the meditating monk?
The Buddha said ‘there is no self’
Is it ridding us of the illusion of life?
Is it losing the damaging desires?
Is it good or bad?
Or is it beyond that….
