Overthinking in Meditation
There’s a lot of advice on how to meditate, the problem can be that if it’s making you think or try too hard it might be getting in the way.
It shouldn’t be a burden.
Try the opposite and instead of trying to do something – don’t do it.
Let go of all the advice and instructions and watch everything pass by without interference or attachment.
Treat it like the relief you feel when you had a lot to do but now don’t have to do it, you’ve got time off instead.
The only thing you have to do is observe it as entertainment, all going past without having to interfere.
This detached observation will give effortless insight and wisdom naturally.
Teachers often want you to focus, so instead unfocus, let your gaze and perspective go as wide as it can naturally do. It’s surprising the gifts your mind will receive when it has no limits or structure.
Break all the rules, tear down any imposed structures, challenge the zeitgeist and see what’s actually out there.
