Walking the left hand path.
There are those that loyally carry the treasure chest of their system from generation to generation. They will say “I teach exactly as I was taught”.
Not every generation will have innovators that are capable of developing a system to make it better, so the carriers have an important role until someone can unlock the chest, penetrate the ideas of the system and make them better..
These are the people that walk the left hand path. They take the instructions and then practice and internalise the skills until they become them, but don’t stop there.
They are able to go beyond words, beyond instructions and allow their body and deeper mind to process the information and then adapt and improve it. They are able to take information from other sources, and improve the base system at a deep level.
As society evolves, information and communication improve, it ceases to be so inward looking, xenophobic and secretive and the innovators are able to make good use of that.
Why ‘the left hand path’? Because they have an internal locus of power, this means that they won’t run with the crowd, they’re not confined by the parameters of the system and approval of the followers. They have to walk a separate path and will inevitably suffer the derision of those that don’t like change and innovation and that takes confidence.
For change and adaption to be accepted it needs to work and gain acceptance and therefore has to be challenged and proven amongst the biggest group of seniors in the widest spectrum of the arts.
There are many with ‘flowery hands and embroidered feet’ that mix up their arts or try to make them flowery to boost their ego but the true innovators are very rare.
And they don’t appear in every generation.
