I was watching the BBC series ‘Human’ about our evolution and wondering when we changed from living in harmony with the planet and became the disharmonious, damaging, self inflicting, nasty virus we are today.

It seems that it was around ten thousand years ago when we started to change from roaming hunter gathers who only took the minimum of what they needed when they needed it to settling in one place and ‘farming’.

We altered, bred and farmed crops and animals to harvest and kill for food and stored the extra ‘for a rainy day’ changing our society and the way we think forever. It was the start of the concept of ‘wealth’, land grabbing, nations, armies, tax, accumulation and storing of wealth, all the plagues that have gradually increased to get us to the cognitively dissonant, uncaring, vengeful, society we have today, mindlessly slaughtering billions of people and animals, permanently damaging our environment and eventually ourselves.

We haven’t ‘evolved’, we have devolved, historically all the other species of humans were eliminated mainly by climate change and we are rapidly heading to doing it to ourselves by either self imposed climate change or war, both outcomes started by the strain of greed that began with ‘farming’ ten thousand years ago.

The presentation of the series was how did humans become the wonderful species that we are today, it should have been a warning, tracking back to show where we made the biggest mistakes that have caused us to evolve and ruin our ‘humanity’ toward each other and damage our environment that will soon enough wipe us all out with our own greed.
