I often get asked why I started learning Tai Chi”. The truth is, there were many reasons, but primarily it was the opportunity to train under Sensei Steve Rowe and the allure of a deeper, more spiritual path to martial mastery than I’d found in other styles.

What I discovered far exceeded my expectations. Tai Chi has transformed me in countless ways. It taught me meditation, breathing techniques, and a profound understanding of the body. It revealed the intricacies of energy manipulation, both defensively and offensively. I delved into the philosophies of Yi and Chi, cultivating emotional intelligence, and mastering the dynamics of energy.

The Yang Double Edged Sword form is a masterpiece and an absolute thing of beauty. Beyond that, I gained insights into chakras, elements, energy coloration, Buddhism, Daoism, and the fundamental principles of movement. I learned to harness the four jins, manipulate fascia, and integrate Pushing Hands into sensitivity training.

Witnessing a one-legged, 70-year-old cancer survivor effortlessly deflect my full force and then repel me was a humbling experience. His ability to anticipate my movements and off-balance me with seemingly effortless power was astonishing. 1 inch punch let me show you my NO inch punch will always be a memorable day.

Through Tai Chi, I’ve become a more skilled martial artist and, more importantly, a better person.

The real question isn’t why I chose Tai Chi, but why isn’t everyone practicing it?
