Yang Family (Yeung Gar) Tai Chi Chuan

Historical facts about the founder of the Yang family (Yeung Gar) style of Tai Chi Yang Lu Chan are varied and often disputed, but he did teach in the Imperial Palace and also many high level dignitaries. I would speculate that this contributed to his notable skill and his ability to deal with opponents utilising the Tai Chi skills of a ‘soft front and a strong back’, often referred to as ‘a sharp needle, or iron bar wrapped in soft cotton’. He needed to be effective but retain a dignified approach, negating an opponent’s force with a blend of skill … Continue reading Yang Family (Yeung Gar) Tai Chi Chuan

You’re Enchanted!

You’re living inside a witches ‘glamour’ spell. You’re enchanted. Put inside a meat vehicle and subject to the spell’s glamour, you think that life is precious, you think it’s full of love, joy and happiness, not realising that your body is gradually rotting, will get sick and die and you will not be able recognise those glamours without an equal amount of anxiety, anger, unhappiness and pain. How do you deal with this? Life is movement, so sit still, breathe deep and you can get outside the spell, you can see the illusion and when seen, the glamour disappears… Continue reading You’re Enchanted!

Seated Meditation

Find a kitchen chair or something similar (as in the photo) to sit on. Breathe in by expanding the lower abdomen and back, then opening the ribs, stretching (but not stiffening) upwards through the crown of the head with the entire body, opening and filling with energy all the spaces and cavities, including joints and all tissue. When the breath in is complete wait to allow all the energy to finish rising until you would have to stop yourself from breathing out before placing the tongue to the top palette and releasing the breath, and energy, softening down, draining the … Continue reading Seated Meditation

What Are Immortals?

What Are Immortals?Immortals are not humans that live forever. They are humans that have discovered their consciousness. They are ‘stream enterers’.Immersed in universal consciousness.Knowing what they were before they were born. What they will still be after ‘death’.What gives their body life. What is looking out of their eyes.Listening through their ears.Smelling through their nose.Tasting with their tongue.Understanding that they are an aperture.Through which the universe experiences itself. From a sea of consciousness. That has no beginning or end. From which everything rises and falls like waves.Where the shape changes but not the form.We are all immortal. If only we knew it. I Used To Be Enlightened But I Forgot…

Around 40 years ago I was giving a talk to an astrology group about the idea of reincarnation. I suggested that natal charts were astronomical configurations that were ‘nets’. When someone died all their unresolved karmic issues went with them and the soul travelled through the universe until it was caught in one of these configurations that brought them back into a body to resolve them. Thus reincarnation until there were no issues left. Afterwards one of the attendees came up to me and said “you know, I used to be enlightened, but I forgot” and I understood what she … Continue reading I Used To Be Enlightened But I Forgot…

Let Go Of Letting Go

You know I have an unusual mind. Every day on here I see everyone expounding the merits of positivity, happiness and joy and I really don’t get it. We also don’t want sadness, anger, unhappiness, anxiety or depression. It’s better to have an absence of all of these. The irony is that it doesn’t leave a vacuum, it gives an incredible sense of peace. The process is one of continuously letting go of all of those emotions until you reach a deep abiding peace with both yourself and the rest of the world. Let go, then keep letting go until … Continue reading Let Go Of Letting Go

A Conference With My Body

A conference with my body. Before I train I monitor my mental, physical and emotional state to present my case to my body on how I’m going to train during the day. My body has its own intelligence that I know I can rely on. As I start moving it immediately starts communicating in its own instinctive language that is my first (not second) language and directs the format. Some days it’s purely health, calming body, emotions and mind and when all excessive tension is gone, it opens, stretches, closes, compresses, twists and releases driving the energy through open channels. … Continue reading A Conference With My Body

Points Of Inevitability

Inevitable points in life. There’s birth and death, but what are the others? When I look back there are points of inevitably. It seems that whatever roads I took in life they would bring me to the same points and people. It’s like I have choice, but I’m here for a purpose so whatever choices I make, certain things have to happen, otherwise there’d be no meaning and purpose to life. My choices determined whether I learned the hard way or the easy way and sometimes what appeared to be the hard way was in fact the easy way. If … Continue reading Points Of Inevitability

Drawing Lines From Insight

Whilst meditating this morning my mind was connecting the chi to the breath. As I breathed in it moved it from the lower dantien through the coccyx, up the back, over the head where it collected between the in and out breath and as I breathed out I sank the chest to drain it down from the tongue back down to the lower dantien. I found myself naturally drawing the line with my hands in front of the body and that drew a mental image of the shape of Daruma meditating in the cave. (I wish I could draw, AI … Continue reading Drawing Lines From Insight
